Expectant mother, five others die in accident on Ogun road

An expectant mother, a little child and four others were killed when a truck bearing granite rammed into  a Nissan Bluebird car at the mechanic village stretch of the OGTV – Ajebo road, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The accident which occurred on Tuesday night, also left two other persons with injuries.
The Nation gathered that the truck marked  FD 638 EKY which had left a quarry site, lost control of the wheel, strayed into another lane and crashed into the on – coming  Nissan car with registration number KJA 731 XP.
The truck crushing  to death, six of the eight persons in the car.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps(TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, nine people were involved in the accident.
Akinbiyi who blamed cause of the accident on reckless driving by the truck driver,  said the dead comprised of three males, two females – including an expectant mother, and  a female child.
“Reckless driving on the part of loaded granite driver.  The remains of the dead have been deposited at General Hospital Ijaiye mortuary while the  injured were taking to FMC idi aba and General hospital ljaye Abeokuta.
“Eight passengers were in the Red Nissan Bluebird vehicle while the truck loaded with  granite had  driver as the only occupant.
The driver of d Nissan Bluebird was among the dead while the  truck driver was the only escaped unhurt  but unfortunately ran away,” Akinbiyi said.

Bauchi Trains SBMC Members for Effective Management of Schools

As part of efforts to improve the quality and efficient school administration in Bauchi State, a total of 891 School Base Management Committee (SBMC) members across the state have been trained on effective management of schools to meet international standards. The training, under the Additional Financing programme, which was provided by the State Education Programme Investment Project (SEPIP), is targeting SBMC members for 297 schools in Ganjuwa, Katagum and Toro centres representing the three senatorial districts of the state.
