Buhari attacks Security aides

President Muhammadu Buhari was very unpleased with his security aides over his son, Yusuf’s accident with a power bike. Yusuf was drag racing with a friend on Tuesday night around 8 pm when he crashed his power bike, sustaining head injuries and breaking a limb in the process.   “The president was at the hospital on Wednesday night. He was very devastated when he saw his son, Yusuf, in a very critical situation. He was shaking his  head,  while looking at his son and thereafter angrily reprimanded his security officials for allowing Yusuf to leave home at that time of the day for power-bike racing. From the way the president spoke, it appears the security aides are in trouble. He spoke angrily. The Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau ( rtd ); his FCT ministry counterpart, Alhaji Mohammed Bello; and the Senate President’s wife,  Mrs.  Toyin Saraki; stayed throughout the night of Tuesday till Wednesday at the hospital with Hajia Aisha Buhari. Innoson, demands to know purpose of Arrest

“Our attention has been drawn on a tweet by EFCC on its official Twitter handle claiming that the Gestapo kind of arrest of Dr Innocent Chukwuma (OFR) today at his Enugu residence was because he didnt honour an invitation from the commission sent to him. This claim by the commission is not factual and it tends to mislead the public and bring the personality and character of Dr Innocent Chukwuma to disrepute. Hence we want to state the true position so as to inform the general public the truth about this matter. EFCC never at any time invited Dr Innocent Chukwuma either in writing or through any other means. We are aware that EFCC investigated GTB complaint against Innoson in 2012. During the investigation, he was invited and he honoured the invitation. After the investigation, EFCC filed a charge against him at Lagos State High Court. The charge was subsequently struck out. However, Dr Innocent Chukwuma and Innoson Nigeria Ltd appealed against the order striking out the case

No civilian killed

Maj.-Gen. Rogers Nicholas, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, gave the clarification in a Short Service Message (SMS) to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri. Nicholas said that the troops escorting the trucks had killed six insurgents and recovered weapons. He explained that there were no civilian casualties in the attack, adding that he was at Dikwa when the incident occurred. “There was an ambush but the soldiers killed six Boko Haram insurgents and recovered weapons. No civilian was killed. “I was in Dikwa that Saturday and this happened while I was within,” Nicholas said. However, the Wold Food Programme (WFP) on Sunday said a driver of its hired truck and three other persons were killed in an attack at Ngala in Gamboru-Ngala Local Government Area of Borno. Adedeji Ademigbuji, the Communication Associate of the WFP, said in a statement issued in Maiduguri that a convoy of the WFP’s hired trucks conveying food items were attacked by gunmen 35 kilome

Biafra

The President-General of the Igbo political organization predicated his claim on the fact that the agitators were his children. Vanguard quoted Nwodo as saying, “Nobody should touch these youths because they’re my children. “Whether I agree with them or not, they have a right to express themselves. When I was their age I was in the trench of Biafra fighting. “I am not sure that anyone of them has heard the sound of a gun. I lost my best friend, who was with me in the trench; a mortar caught him in the chest and he died instantly. “Anybody at my age who does not speak the truth is not doing himself any good. Ohanaeze does not support war; we support restructuring, which will allow the federating units in Nigeria to take charge of their affairs. “Our young men must learn; we know better than them and they must learn to listen to us. In order to get a pride of place for every Nigerian, we must ask ourselves how do we do it. “If we go back to the trenches to fight, we are doin

PENGASSAN is on industrial action

Meanwhile the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), whose members mainly work in the upstream oil industry, started the industrial action after talks with government agencies ended in deadlock, said Lumumba Okugbawa. The move could hit the country’s crude oil production and dent exports, as was the case in December 2016 during industrial action by the union against Exxon Mobil. Nigeria is Africa’s largest crude exporter and oil sales make up two-thirds of government revenue. “PENGASSAN is on industrial action as a result of unfair labour practices by some companies, particularly indigenous oil and gas companies,” said Okugbawa. The dispute arose after domestic oil and gas companies and marginal field operators laid off members of the union. Marginal fields refer to discoveries made by oil majors during exploration of larger acreage but which have been left for others to develop. The union leader said office workers and staff working in di
