Fatee Muhammed, top Nigerian female politician has declared that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar remains the best person to rule Nigeria, come 2019. Addressing newsmen, Muhammed, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said the former Vice President will bring the needed change Nigerians are yearning for. Noting that the Waziri of Adamawa has proven himself to be an “industrialist per excellence,” Muhammed said the former Vice President has what it takes to “transform Nigeria” if given the opportunity. Responding to a question from newsmen, Muhammed said, “That question makes me happy because it gives me an opportunity to erase the negative impressions people have about our principal, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. “Atiku is really a man that is passionate about the welfare of youths and women, he is an industrialist per excellence, his economic policy is evident and I know that when given an opportunity, he has what it takes to transform Nigeria. “Atiku is our next p

Integration of transportation systems will ease movement – Ambode

Ambode commended the newly-inducted cadets, advising them to be committed to their jobs and to ensure due diligence. 2019 Elections: Why i can’t be Buhari’s running mate – Tinubu

The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has debunked rumours of his emergence as the vice presidential candidate of President Muhammadu Buhari in the upcoming 2019 elections. Tinubu described the report as ‘Utter and irredeemably fake news’. A statement from the Tinubu media office read; “There is no empirical or logical basis for this mischievously speculative story. Is it even conceivable, as the story recklessly insinuates, that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would be considering returning to full church work rather than run with his boss, President Buhari, for a second term if the latter so decides without as much as discussing such a sensitive issue with his party and with Asiwaju Tinubu? In any case, is this story not entirely unwarranted and indefensible as the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket has an electoral mandate of four years out of which it has spent only over two years and a half years? This is clearly an attempt to distract t

Boko Haram tries to take over military base in NE Nigeria

Kano - Boko Haram fighters battled Nigerian soldiers for about an hour on Wednesday as they tried to take over a military base, in the latest attack against troops in the restive northeast. A former local government official, a civilian militia member and a motorist who witnessed the shooting said the Islamist militants tried to storm the outpost in the village of Mainok in Borno state. Troops managed to repel the attack with the help of reinforcements but it comes after a series of similar raids targeting soldiers that is likely to stoke fears of a resurgence. Lawan Bukar Wasaram, a former chairman of the Kaga district where Mainok is located, said "large numbers" of Boko Haram militants tried to take over the base. "So far, 14 of the attackers have been killed and two of their (pick-up) trucks impounded," he told AFP. "The situation has been brought under control by troops." 'They came in eight pick-up trucks' A leader of the c
